Citizen's Charter of STA
COMMITMENTS :

This Authority is committed to serve the public with courtesy and consideration for providing service responding promptly to enquiries by providing necessary information and bringing transparency in the services provided.

SERVICES :
  • For the convenience of the clients, the Authority has prescribed the various check-lists which are available free of cost with the Clerk available at Counter No.1 for the speedy/time bound disposal of the cases.
  • The Authority has also displayed a board outside the office premises indicating various types of fee to be deposited by the transporters.
  • The Authority has set up eight counters to deal with the above issues.
  • There is also one enquiry counter for the convenience of the public.
  • For monitoring of pollution levels in the vehicles, the State Transport Authority has a Pollution Cell. The Motor Vehicle Inspector (Pollution Cell) has been made responsible to check the pollution levels of various categories of vehicles in different parts of the city.

PROCEDURE FOR DISPOSAL OF CHALLANS :

        Offenders/representatives of the offenders are required to appear before the Secretary/State Transport Authority for compounding of their challans. Secretary/STA compounds the challans as per Sections of the Motor Vehicle Act pertaining to the offence accordingly. In case the offenders are not satisfied with the fine imposed by Secretary, State Transport Authority they are free to approach the appropriate Court against the imposed fine.


If a vehicle is challaned by the Pollution Cell of State Transport Authority for not having Pollution Under Control Certificate, at the time of challan, the offender can get his impounded documents released by producing the Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUC) before the Secretary/State Transport Authority within a period of 7 days without any fine. If Pollution Under Control Certificate is not produced within a week’s period, a fine of Rs. 1000/- is imposed on the defaulter for the Ist offence and Rs. 2000/- for subsequent offence of the same nature.


COMPLAINTS/GRIEVANCES :

        Any complaint/grievance can be made to the Secretary, S.T.A. and Additional Secretary, S.T.A., Office of State Transport Authority, Sector-18-A, (Near Govt. Printing Press) Madhya Marg, Chandigarh.
